I’m starting to see more and more major newsletter outlets implementing audio voice-overs into their articles to attract a much wider range of daily readers, in this case, audio listeners who aren't really huge fans of reading but still are interested in the topics these major news outlets are covering.
However, that doesn't necessarily mean you should start implementing audio voice-overs onto your own blogs.
That’s why in today’s blog post I’ll be covering the pros and cons of embedding audio voice-overs onto your blog page.
So, let’s get into it.
First up we have the pros.

Some of the pros of embedding audio voice-overs onto your blogs include:

Increased average time spent on your website, which can significantly have a positive impact on your SEO because when someone spends an extended amount of time on your website, it signals to Google, “hey, this guy’s content is valuable, you need to start ranking it,” so Google’s algorithm does exactly that.
SEO Boost from Transcripts: Audio files often come with transcripts, which are essentially text versions of your audio content. These transcripts offer hidden SEO advantages like:
  • Keyword-Rich Content: Transcripts naturally contain the same keywords and phrases as your blog post, reinforcing your content's relevance for specific search terms.
  • Increased Indexable Content: Search engines can crawl and index transcript text, potentially leading to a 3%-10% increase in search traffic.
  • Long-Tail Keyword Opportunities: Transcripts often capture natural speech patterns, which can include long-tail keywords that might not appear in more formal written content.
  • Improved Accessibility: Transcripts make your content accessible to search engines and users who prefer or need to read rather than listen.
But at what cost?

The Con of embedding audio voice-overs onto your blogs

Is it at the cost of slow-loading pages or at the cost of maintaining the quality of audio content?
All of that is irrelevant if you're using Elevenals audio native feature for your audio voice-overs.
But there's another factor to consider: Your AdSense revenue.
Think about it for a moment.
Whenever you're listening to a podcast, you're usually doing something proactive like: cooking, cleaning, running, lifting weights, or out on the road.
Which gives you little to no time for staring at your screen while the audio is playing in the background.
The same concept will apply if you start embedding audio voice-overs onto your blog posts, which can negatively affect your AdSense revenue if your primary source of monetization is ad sense.
